Real Estate Advertising
According to Advertising Age Magazine, of 6-23-08, pg 19, the real estate industry spent $2.668 Billion on all types of advertsing in the US last year.
The breakdown was:
Consumer Magaizess 321 Million
Business Publications 179 Million
NEWSPAPERS 1.543 BillionOutdoor ( Billboards 252.6 Million
Network TV 90.1 Million
Spot TV 96.2 Million
Sports TV 19.9 Million
Cable TV 77.8 Million
Syndicated TV 12.4 Million
Radio 134.3 Million
Internet 116.6 Million!
Not surprisinly, the largest real estate firm was, Coldwell Banker with $109 Million and they were #181 out of the Top 200 National Advertisers.
For the past several years we all know that the real power of real estate lies in the Internet.
We all known that Newspapers have't been pulling their weight, and most major newespapers in all markets, are bleeding red ink.
So,hat are we,the real estate professions, doing pumping in $1.5 Billion into newspapers?
Aree we that charitable ? Or do old habits just die hard?
Now this leads me to the next question. For the next 6 months will you "invest" or "spend" ,more or less,in advertsing?
I belive from my experiene that 90% of print advertsing is DOA for the real estate business. The exception is some trade journals and nationals such as The Wall Street Journal, and New York Times?
